NCAA Football Top 25 for Week 3

20 09 2010

1.   Ohio State Buckeyes

OSU get more impressive as the weeks go on.  Junior quarterback Terrelle Pryor is showing no signs of slowing down as he torched the Ohio Bobcats for 235 yards through the air, and completed 22 of 29 passes in the Buckeyes 43-7 victory.  This win paired with their week 2 victory against the Miami Hurricanes are reasons enough for Jim Tressel’s bunch to land the top spot…for now.

2.  Alabama Crimson Tide

The Tide drop to the second spot this week not because their 62-13 drubbing of Duke wasn’t impressive, but, because Nick Saban’s squad have yet to face a legit opponent (no, Penn State does not count.  The Nittany Lions are not the same as they were in the past.)  Mark Ingram looked great in his 2010-2011 debut as he tore up the Blue Devils on the ground with 151 yards rushing and two touchdown runs.

3.  Boise State Broncos

Boise State showed no rust coming off their bye week as Kellen Moore put on a spectacle against the Wyoming Cowboys.  Moore completed 20 of 30 passes for 370 yards, and two touchdowns.  The junior quarterback provided highlight reel plays as he linked up with Austin Pettis for a 58-yard touchdown pass in the first quarter, and then got Titus Young in the mix with a 49-yard touchdown play in the second.  The Broncos could vacate their current position after this weekend with the help of Arkansas.  A ‘Bama loss to the Razorbacks will have Boise State setting up shop on a piece of property located higher up the Top 25 mountain.

4.  TCU Horned Frogs

The battle of the wetland creatures goes to TCU (this time).  The Horned Frogs have been tearing through their non-conference schedule.  First Oregon State, then Tennessee Tech (not the best example) and now Baylor.  The Frogs may be living it up right now, but if they don’t take SMU as a serious threat, TCU may drop a few spots next week.

5.  Oregon Ducks

Chip Kelly and his Ducks round out the top five for week 3 after yet another video game-esque win.  This week, Portland State were the victims of Oregon’s offensive onslaught.  69-0?  Hey, did anyone else notice that the Ducks barely even played the fourth quarter?   Currently, the Ducks are averaging 63 points per game, and have allowed 4.3 points in the first three games of the season.  Jeremiah Masoli who?

2010-2011 NCAA Football BCS Bowl Predictions

Sugar Bowl:

Florida Gators vs.  Nebraska Cornhuskers

Orange Bowl:

Miami Hurricanes vs.  Alabama Crimson Tide

Fiesta Bowl:

Oklahoma Sooners vs.  TCU Horned Frogs

Rose Bowl:

*Oregon Ducks vs.  Wisconsin Badgers

BCS National Championship:

Ohio State Buckeyes vs.  *Boise State Broncos

(Boise State and Oregon could swap places as they are both predicted to finish the season undefeated.  The Ducks have a stronger schedule, but Boise State’s 26-game winning streak may have the BCS computer on the fritz and slip the Broncos the edge.)
