*600…

Alex Rodriguez

After 47 at bats, the king of steroids finally made history on Wednesday afternoon by hitting home run number 600 against Shaun Marcum of the Toronto Blue Jays. This is a major accomplishment for A-Roid as he joins a club with the likes of Willie Mays, Hank Aaron, Babe Ruth and Ken Griffey Jr., but, more importantly, he joins a more exclusive club with Barry Bonds and Sammy Sosa in the “600 Home Roids Club.”

Nothing about this milestone had me impressed with Alex Rodriguez in any way. Only in New York would a player who admitted to cheating be celebrated by the fans.

And what about the stadium worker who grabbed the historic ball? He gave it up for an autographed bat? Okay, I understand that he was following protocol and was told to give the ball to his superior, but, a pat on the back and a signed bat? That’s it? Rodriquez’s 500th home run ball sold for over $100,000, and all this poor security worker got was a lousy bat? C’mon.

Had I caught that ball, things would have been completely different.

My asking price for the 600th home run ball:

– Taking a picture with A-Fraud with him wearing a Red Sox jersey

– One week of his pay cheque donated to charity

– A Philadelphia Phillies hat

– Tickets to the Red Sox vs. Yankees series all next season (in those nice comfy chairs that Jay-Z and Bud Selig sit in)

– and lastly, a meet and greet with Nick Swisher (yep, Nick Swisher. He’s the only legit, decent and loyal to the game player left on that team)
